Tamaz Bestaev has been appointed as the head of the administration of South Ossetia, the government administration said on Friday.
Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili met the newly appointed official to congratulate him on his selection for the position and promise support in his work.
Bestaev, who replaced Dimitri Sanakoev after the latter left the position recently, headed the healthcare and social security service at the administration over the past 15 years.
Georgia’s national security council convened on Friday to discuss global and regional challenges on the backdrop of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine and the progress of the work on the country’s national security concept, the government press office said.
Georgian defence minister Juansher Burchuladze on Tuesday said Georgian authorities were “well aware” of threats facing the country and steps that could be required in response to them.
Paata Davitaia, the chair of European Democrats and Nikoloz Vashakidze, the chair of the party's political council, will feature in the Warsaw security forum between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Georgian party announced on Monday.
A Georgian delegation led by the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili will participate in the Global Security Forum in Bratislava to discuss strengthening partnerships with allies in the European Union's Eastern Neighbourhood initiative, the Government Administration said on Wednesday.
