Sameh Wahba, the regional director for sustainable development at the World Bank's Europe and Central Asia region, on Wednesday praised the bank’s completed and ongoing projects in Georgia and expressed readiness to further support new programmes.

Wahba made the remarks in a meeting with the Georgian infrastructure minister Irakli Karseladze, who, in turn, thanked the representative of the institution for support through the projects.

The ministry said it was implementing several programmes since 2011 with the support of the World Bank, including both basic development of road, water supply and other infrastructure and projects for tourist facilities, cultural heritage monuments and other municipal-level initiatives.

At the meeting, Karseladze also shared the information about the progress of the government’s 2021-launched Renewed Regions programme, and noted that a part of the projects planned in 63 municipalities of the country had already been completed, with the rest at their final stage.
