Parliament committee chair highlights Austria’s support for Georgia’s EU integration

Maka Botchorishvili, the chair of the Georgian parliament's European Union integration committee, on Monday highlighted the Austrian government’s support for Georgia's European Union integration process.

In her remarks during her visit to the country, the parliament official noted Austria was “ready to help” Georgian authorities in the process of fulfilling EU conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status to make the process “fast and effective”.

“During these meetings with representatives of the Austrian executive power, we are talking about the process of implementation of the EU recommendations and Georgi’s prospect of joining the EU”, Botchorishvili said.

Our Austrian counterparts have expressed readiness to support Georgia in the European integration process as much as possible - in the implementation of recommendations - if there is such a need”, she added. 

The parliament official also noted Austria was “ready to play the most positive role” in bringing EU enlargement policy to fruition.

Regarding Georgia, we can say that Austria supports the process of Georgia's integration into the European Union. Austria is ready to help us in the process of fulfilling the EU conditions and to provide maximum assistance in terms of joining the European Union to make the process fast and efficient”, Botchorishvili concluded.
