Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European Union Integration Committee, on Tuesday discussed the country’s bid for EU membership with members of the Dutch Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee as part of her working visit to the Netherlands.
Botchorishvili stressed the importance of the EU giving Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova “a clear European perspective” and the candidate status, noting the significance of support from the Netherlands and other member states in the process, the Georgian Parliament’s press office said.
The sides also discussed security challenges in the Black Sea region and Russia's continuing occupation of Georgian regions.
Members of the Dutch Parliament welcomed Georgia's aspiration to join the EU and noted the steps taken by the country on the integration path.
During her visit Botchorishvili also met with representatives of leading Dutch research centres and media outlets to make comments about the agenda of Georgia's aspirations for joining the EU.
