Georgian government, taking into account the situation of the Ukrainian people and the country, does not want to enter into polemics, Irakli Kobakidze, the chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party said on Saturday in response to the sanctions, imposed by Ukraine on the family members of the former prime minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.

Kobakhidze called the imposed sanctions an “extremely unfriendly step” from Ukraine but noted that in view of the country’s state of war, Georgia would continue a “one-sided friendship” with Ukraine.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday issued a decree sanctioning four Georgian citizens, which includes the blocking of assets, restriction of trade operations, flights and transportation on Ukraine’s territory, as well as suspension of economic and financial obligations, etc.
