Germany's role and support for Georgia's EU integration process, and a deepening of mutual cooperation were discussed on Friday in a meeting between Irakli Kobakhidze, the chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, and Lars Klingbeil, the co-leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany.

In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted the meeting with the German partners had proved “very friendly and productive”.

We talked about the cooperation between the parties as well as the importance of Germany’s support. At the meeting, it was noted that Germany supports our integration into the European structures, and everything will be done to achieve success on this path”, the GD official said.

Kobakhidze stressed it was “very important” for the ruling party to deepen the party cooperation with German colleagues, noting the process would contribute to “further deepening” of relations between the two countries.

A Georgian Dream delegation, led by Kobakhidze, is participating in the international congress of the Party of European Socialists, hosted in Berlin between Friday and Saturday.
