The Georgian government on Monday held a meeting led by prime minister Irakli Garibashvili to discuss a range of topics, including approval of the 2022-2028 strategy for the development of the capital market of Georgia and the related action plan.

The government administration said the strategy would contribute to the “uniformity of the country's economic space, freedom of economic activity” and establishment of a competitive and stable investment environment.

Designed to reflect the government’s Vision 2030 development strategy, the strategy is also in line with the association agreement signed with the European Union in 2014, while the action plan is set for the years 2022-2024.

The strategy was developed with the active involvement of relevant government agencies, private sector representatives, Asian Development Bank experts and consultants.

The document is fully consistent with our obligations towards the European Union - that is, the obligations defined by the association agreement are fully reflected in the capital market development strategy and its action plan. The current year is particularly active in terms of capital market reform, and we have made important political decisions and submitted bills to the parliament. Today, the government approved one of the additional bills on securitisation, which will be submitted to the parliament today”, economy minister Levan Davitashvili said.
