Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday said the double-digit economic growth of 10.5 percent over the first six months of 2022 was the result of the Government's "reasonable and national" policy.

Garibashvili said that "this is a big exception in today's world".

I have frequent communication with our European leaders, colleagues, friends, and they are very surprised how little Georgia managed such strong economic growth. The lari continues to strengthen, this all helps to create more wealth in the country; business is very active, many jobs are created, thousands of jobs, and I want to say that we will support this trend as much as possible, and strengthen it more", Garibashvili said.

The National Statistics Office of Georgia published the latest GDP data today which reads that the Georgian economy grew by 7.2 percent in June and by 10.5 percent in the first six months of 2022 year-on-year.

Vakhtan Tsintsadze of the Ministry of Economy said that maintaining the trend of double-digit economic growth is especially important in the light of the decrease in the forecasts of the global economy.

This, of course, indicates the stability of the Georgian economy in relation to external shocks", Tsintsadze said.

The Deputy Minister of Finance, Mikheil Dundua said that Georgia's double-digit economic growth is a result of "our peace-oriented policy".
