Cooperation prospects and the growing dynamics of tourism recovery in Georgia were discussed on Monday in a meeting between Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and Serkan Kaptan, the president of TAV Airports, the company managing two of the largest airports in the country.
The meeting noted the pandemic had posed “a number of challenges” to the company, with the head of the government welcoming TAV's decisions to on development and adding he hoped further innovations would be offered in the future, the government administration said.

TAV Georgia has made a $220 million investment that put into operation the new passenger terminals of Tbilisi and Batumi international airports. Investments made between 2016-2017 have seen the existing runway at the Tbilisi facility “fully rehabilitated”, while a new flight terminal was also opened.
Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Sunday said the current Georgian Dream authorities had ensured an “unprecedented period of continuous peaceful and stable development in our country”, as the party marked 10 years in office on Saturday.
Passenger flow at Tbilisi International Airport recovered by 92 percent compared to the pre-pandemic 2019 figure in August, TAV Georgia, the company operating two major airports in the country, said on Monday.
Tbilisi International Airport in the Georgian capital served 1,515,988 passengers in the first seven months of 2022, while the number stood at 313,036 for Batumi International Airport in the country's Black Sea city, TAV Georgia, the operator of the two facilities, announced on Wednesday.
Georgia’s revenues from tourism reached $476 million in July, a 20 percent increase from the same month of the pre-pandemic 2019 and a roughly 130 percent increase from July 2021, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at today's Government meeting.
