Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Sunday said the current Georgian Dream authorities had ensured an “unprecedented period of continuous peaceful and stable development in our country”, as the party marked 10 years in office on Saturday.
In his address to the audience at the award ceremony of honorary citizens of capital Tbilisi, the head of the government stressed “what we need today is peace, stability and development. People need more prosperity and the government will do its best for this”.
He also reiterated “only peaceful and stable development” of Georgia could lead to the “major goal” of the reintegration of the country's currently occupied territories.
A part of our territories is occupied now, but I believe Georgia will be united [again]”, he told citizens at the event.
The Georgian Dream coalition, founded by businessman and philanthropist Bidzina Ivanishvili, defeated the United National Movement government in October 2012 parliamentary elections, putting an end to the nine-year rule of the party.
Georgian Dream has won all parliamentary and municipal elections in the country since then.
