Georgian public broadcaster facility sold in $27 mln auction

Facilities of the Georgian public broadcaster channel in Tbilisi have been sold at an auction for ₾77 million (about $27.21mln), clearing the way for its media operations to move to a new location designated for the broadcaster five years ago, local media outlet bm.ge has reported.

The real estate of the broadcaster, which has offices of its media operations stationed at the location on Kostava Street, has an area of 33,209 sq.m., with buildings with an area of 23,649 sq.m. located on the land.

The GPB has now announced the tender for the construction of its new offices at Politkovskaya Street in the capital, on a plot of land designated for the purpose in 2017, when the management and board of trustees of the broadcaster applied to the ministry of economy with the request.

The winner of the tender will be expected to build new facilities for the channel in the space of 12 months.
