Tourism potential of western Georgia’s Black Sea coastline Adjara region, dynamics of tourism industry recovery and issues related to the implementation of the European Union conditions for granting Georgia the membership candidate status were discussed on Friday in a meeting between the head of the Adjara government Tornike Rizhvadze and members of the European parliament Marina Kaljurand and Sven Mikser.

Rizhvadze extended his gratitude to the MEPs for their “unwavering support” for Georgia's sovereignty and Euro-Atlantic integration, the regional government administration said.

He also stressed all Georgian government agencies were “working together” to achieve the “common goal” for receiving the EU membership candidate status.

In their turn, the MEPs expressed their readiness to “cooperate and support” Georgia in achieving its goal of becoming an EU member.
