Food agency suspends production for 181 venues for sanitary violations

The national food agency of Georgia has suspended production at 181 cafes, bars and restaurants in the country for their violations of sanitary and hygienic norms, local media outlet Interpressnews reported on Tuesday.

The news agency said the national body had detected 1,155 administrative violations at venues under its supervision during the first nine months of the year.

In comments to the outlet, the agency said it had carried out 3,428 controls in food facilities as of September 14, with various types of violations detected as a result.

It said sanitary and hygienic norm violations, “disorderly infrastructure”, improper washing, disinfection and disinfection, as well as accumulation of condensate had been observed in the inspection efforts.
