Coronavirus: Georgia reports 15,644 new cases, 46 deaths

Georgia has reported 15,644 new Covid-19 cases, 24,110 recoveries, and 46 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past 14 days stands at 32.01 percent.

Overall 171,873 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 52,912 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 32,295 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 20,617 were PCR tests. 

1,511,800 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,324,172 of 1,511,800 patients have recovered, while 15,729 have died from the virus.

The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for about 95 percent of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The 15,644 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 7,574 cases 
  • Adjara - 1,109 cases 
  • Imereti - 2,342 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 865 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 946 cases 
  • Guria - 447 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 914 cases 
  • Kakheti - 866 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 334 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 174 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 73 cases

A total of 5,876 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,259 patients are in critical condition out of which 296 are on artificial ventilation.

164,871 people are undergoing treatment at home.
