Harvard graduate appointed new Gov’t representative for eastern Kakheti region

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday met with Giorgi Aladashvili, the newly appointed Government representative in eastern Kakheti region tasked with coordinating the implementation of “regional policy and individual measures” of the local self-government reform, the Government Administration said.

The two officials reviewed ongoing and pending regional projects, with the meeting also attended by Irakli Shioshvili, the former Government representative for the region, and Leri Barnabishvili, the head of the Regional Relations Department in the Government Administration.

Having previously held a number of high-ranking positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Security Service of Georgia, Aladashvili has a Master’s degree in law from Harvard University, a leading higher educational institution in the United States.
