Georgian Parliament’s Gender Equality Council, Human Rights Committee discuss EU recommendation concerning gender equality

On Wednesday, the Georgian Parliament’s Gender Equality Council and Committee on Human Rights, along with the representatives of partner organisations, discussed the 9th recommendation, concerning gender equality, of the 12-point conditions outlined by the European Union for granting Georgia the membership candidate status.

Nino Tsilosani, the Chair of the Council noted the discussion concerned both “economic empowerment” of women and a strategic “long-term approach” of gender equality in state policy, and added that the issues of expanding gender quotas in parliament and its “successful” implementation had been also discussed, the Georgian Parliament’s press office said.
