Former intelligence analytical directorate head appointed National Security Council chief of staff

The former head of the Analytical Directorate in the Georgian Intelligence Service, Givi Tumanishvili, was appointed Chief of Staff of the National Security Council by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili earlier today.

Tumanishvili, who previously also worked in various positions in the Military Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defence, replaced Sergo Turmanidze in the post.

Activities of the staff of the National Security Council include identification, assessment, analysis and prediction of threats and challenges, and monitoring and analysis of the security situation in the occupied territories of Georgia.

The agency also works to organise and coordinate development of national-level conceptual documents in the field of security, facilitate rapid exchange of information, and more.
