A total of 11.3 percent of wines exported from Georgia to the United States have organic wine certificates, making the country a leader among countries exporting to the US, the National Wine Agency of Georgia announced on Wednesday.
Citing the American Association of Wine Economists, the National Agency noted Georgia was followed by Austria with 7.4 percent and Canada with 7.1 percent.
It also said the exports of the product reached a “historical maximum” last year with a total of 1,084,278 bottles of Georgian wine exported to the US.
It also highlighted the growth rate was being maintained in the ongoing year as well, with 660,000 bottles of wine exported in the country in the first seven months of this year and marking a 16 percent increase year-on-year.
The 14th annual conference of the AAWE this year would be hosted by Georgia on August 24-28 in partnership with Tbilisi State University and with the support of the National Wine Agency and the America-Georgia Business Council, state body announced.
Holding the AAWE annual conference in Georgia will once again confirm that Georgia, as a wine producing and exporting country, occupies an important place in the world wine industry,” the Agency said.
