Young players from Georgia were joined by their counterparts from Europe and Central America this month to train together as part of the International Camp for Amputee Football Players, which came to a close on Tuesday in Tbilisi, the Georgian Football Federation announced.

Sixty players aged between 6-16 from Poland, England, Turkey, Belgium, Costa Rica, Germany and Georgia had the opportunity of training together at the Varketili Football Centre on the outskirts of the capital between July 14-18.

Addressing the guests at the closing ceremony, Levan Kobiashvili, the President of the GFF, said it was a "great honour" for the Federation to host the camp in Georgia.

Football has no borders and it is of great importance for everyone to have the opportunity of playing football and be involved in the process”, Kobiashvili said.
International football camps for young amputee players have been held since 2016 in various European countries. The first three camps were hosted by Ireland, Poland and Italy.

After a two-year pause caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the latest edition of the camp was held in Tbilisi, with the support of the GFF.
