Border guards in north-eastern Georgia's Omalo village were on Saturday visited by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Government members as part of the annual Mountain Week celebrations, with the officials also inspecting a new police station in the Tusheti region.
Garibashvili thanked the guards for their service in "ensuring state security", and noted the importance of their work alongside efforts of police officers and firefighters in mountainous regions.

The Government Administration also said the new police station in the village had been built as part of the Police Infrastructure Renewal project and had been in “full compliance” with the conditions of the highland region and modern standards.
Adapted for people with disabilities, the station includes spaces for interrogation, identification, weapon and evidence storage.
