A new Land Transport Agency has been opened in Georgia’s western city of Kutaisi to provide carriers operating in the Imereti region with “faster and more comfortable” services, the Georgian Economy Ministry announced on Monday.

The office in Kutaisi is the fourth among service centres of the Agency across the country and joins offices in capital Tbilisi and Black Sea cities of Batumi and Poti.

The newly opened office will provide carriers with “all necessary services”, the Ministry said, adding the branch would provide services related to international, one-time road cargo transportation permits.

The state body also noted the centre would be responsible for receiving and issuing documents intended for the organisation of transport security.

Operating since 2011, the Agency has road traffic with 31 countries based on international agreements.
