Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Saturday congratulated Georgia’s Muslim population with the holiday of Eid al-Adha, also known as Kurban Bayram.
In his message on social media, Garibashvili wished the community “prosperity, joy and happiness” on the holiday of “peace, kindness and hope”.
Eid al-Adha is the second and the biggest of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam, honouring the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to Allah's command.
This year’s celebration among Islamic communities across the world begins on Saturday and runs through Wednesday.
