Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili on Monday congratulated Muslims living in Georgia on Eid al-Fitr, the celebration that marked the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan for them.

In his message the head of the Georgian Government said Eid al-Fitr was a great holiday of “spiritual purification, kindness and caring for each other.”

I congratulate with great love and respect every Muslim living in Georgia on Eid al-Fitr, the solemn end of the month-long fasting - a great holiday of spiritual purification, kindness and caring for each other,” Garibashvili said.

In his address to Muslims in the country, he stressed Christians and Muslims had been building “our common homeland” together for centuries, “through brotherhood and friendship”.

We have one present and together we must create the future. Therefore, your joy is the joy of each of us. I join your celebration and wish you peace, prosperity, health and success,” he concluded.

Eid al-Fitr is the earlier of the two official holidays celebrated within Islam. The religious holiday is celebrated by Muslims worldwide as it marks the end of the month-long Ramadan fasting.
