Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday said the polarisation of the domestic political environment could not be ended “unilaterally” and the opposition had a “great responsibility” in the process.

Kaladze noted the Georgian Government was “ready to take specific steps” against the polarised political field.

The responsibility is shared among everyone, and it is not only a matter of the Government, because the polarisation cannot be ended unilaterally. Accordingly, the opposition has a very big responsibility in this direction, although I don't know to what extent they will consider and understand these demands. I really have no illusion that the opposition will become constructive tomorrow”, the GD official said.

Kaladze also said a part of the domestic opposition pursued “destructive steps”, while noting the Government still had a “great responsibility before the Georgian people” and would “do everything so that the reconstruction of the country is not hindered”.
