Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili briefed the European Union-Georgia Business Council on domestic economic policy priorities, challenges and solutions, current and future reforms and economic trends, the Ministry announced on Friday.

Davitashvili noted the EUGB was "closely cooperating" on the path of Georgia's European integration and supported the entry of the Georgian businesses into the European market.

It is especially important to effectively address the issues on the EU Association Agenda so that Georgian businesses can actually reap the benefits of Georgia's integration into the EU", he told the Council.

The Minister also highlighted foreign direct investments in Georgia had amounted to $568.2 million in the first quarter of the year, a figure four times higher compared to the same period of the previous year.

He also noted other figures, including the share of EU-originating investments in foreign direct investments in the country, which stood at 48.7 percent in the same reporting period.

The Council is a non-profit association founded by Georgian and European companies in 2006 in Brussels.
