Officials mark launch of Black Sea region’s “first world trade centre” in Tbilisi

Georgian officials and business leaders on Thursday marked the launch of Axis Towers, a complex promoted as the “first world trade centre” in the Black Sea region, in capital Tbilisi.

A joint project of the Axis development company and the Georgian state Co-Investment Fund, the centre was praised by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili as a “completely Georgian project” in the ceremony.

The Government head said the “scale and importance” of the complex had the potential to become a “symbol of the successful development” of architecture and engineering in the country, and noted investment figures of the project.

The latter is estimated at around $500 million, with direct investment of $150 million in the project, the Government Administration said.

I am sure that with its individual style and sophisticated design it will become a distinctive place for our city and our country, for many tourists [and] everyone who visits this city”, the PM said in his address at the unveiling.
