The question of Georgia's accession to NATO and the decision of the 2008 Bucharest Summit on the matter are “in force”, with all alliance member states “unanimous” on the issue,  Victor Dolidze,  the Head of the Georgian Mission to NATO, said on Thursday.

Dolidze highlighted the participation of the Georgian Defence Minister in multilateral and bilateral meetings in the ongoing NATO defence ministerial in Brussels, and the message it delivered to the allies on the types of assistance the country needed in terms of strengthening “both political and practical interoperability”.

The Head of the Mission also highlighted the Georgian delegation’s first participation in the Rammstein format of NATO in Brussels this week to discuss strategies and initiatives to assist Ukraine in combating the ongoing Russian invasion.

“This is politically a very important decision on Georgia's participation, which underscores the importance of cooperation with the alliance, and the importance of Georgia itself to NATO”, Dolidze said.
