Georgia’s prime minister Irakli Garibashvili will next week present a new public employment programme of the government, with the initiative aiming to provide jobs to socially vulnerable citizens fit for work, instead of social assistance.
Agriculture minister Levan Davitashvili, who spoke at today’s government meeting, said the government had finished working on the programme and it would be presented to the public by the PM next week.
The public employment programme will not be the only initiative to stimulate employment in the country. The government plans to take other steps in this regard, which the public will be informed about in the future,” Davitashvili said.
The minister also noted employing more citizens was a priority for the government in 2022.
Garibashvili initiated the public unemployment programme in December 2021. The head of the government said the initiative would address unemployment by building a “well-functioning system” supporting employment of 300,000 people.
