Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday hosted Ulrik Tideström, the Ambassador of Sweden to Georgia, and conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of Sweden’s National Day.
Darchiashvili wished “peace and prosperity” to the Swedish people while expressing gratitude to the state - “one of Georgia's largest donor and supporter countries” - as well as for the involvement of the Swedish side in the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia, the Foreign office said.

The Minister stressed the importance of Sweden's support for granting Georgia the status of an EU candidate country, while the Swedish Ambassador reaffirmed Sweden's “unconditional support” for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the country's European agenda.
In the “long process” of European integration, Georgia has to have “strong national unity,” and to “uphold” European values of democracy, human rights, equality and the rule of law, Swedish Ambassador Ulrik Tidestrom said on Friday.
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday said the country’s application for European Union membership was the result of the “tireless” and “unwavering” efforts of the Georgian people aimed at “regaining a place in the family” of European nations.
The European market is ready to import the products of Georgian companies, said Erik Illes, the Head of Development Cooperation and Deputy Head of the Embassy of Sweden adding that “there is lots of potential.” He urged Georgian companies to work in networks and share experience about trying to access the European market.
Ambassador of Sweden to Georgia Ulrik Tideström is spending Easter holidays with his family in Georgia’s Black Sea town of Batumi. Ambassador Tideström is sharing his impressions of the town on his official Twitter page.
Hans Wallmark, a member of the Swedish parliament Riksdag on Saturday said he had expectations of “positive signals and changes” in Georgia after the European Commission would evaluate the implemented EU conditions, as the country has been a member of the European family.
