State Department Spokesperson: US “strongly supports" European aspirations of Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova

Ned Price, the United States Department of State Spokesperson, said in a briefing on Tuesday the US “strongly supports" the European aspirations of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova.
Price underlined the United States would continue to “stand by” Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova as they continued down their “European path.”
The United States as a strategic partner, strongly supports the European aspirations, the European ambitions of these three countries [Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova]. We have stood with them as they have gone down that path from independence to where they are now; and we will continue to stand by them as they continue down that [European] path,” the State Department Spokesperson said.
There are many Georgians in the Government and private citizens who are standing in solidarity with their counterparts in Ukraine, Department of State Spokesperson Ned Price said during a briefing on Thursday.
Department of State Spokesperson Ned Price said in a briefing on Tuesday the United States considered Georgia its strategic partner and was “well positioned” to encourage the country on its path of reforms.
Georgia is an “important partner” of the United States in a partnership that has been “demonstrated in different ways”, the Department of State Spokesperson Ned Price said during a briefing on Thursday.
The United States will not recognise the results of any effort by “Russia or its proxies” to “divide sovereign Georgian territory”, State Department spokesperson Ned Price said on Thursday, following information on plans by Georgia’s Russian-occupied region of Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) to hold a referendum on joining Russia.
David Zalkaliani, the Georgian Ambassador to the United States, on Wednesday expressed gratitude to the US State Department for its support of Georgia's European aspirations.
The United National Movement opposition party and its Western lobbyists, specifically the European People's Party, are "trying their best" to prevent Georgia from obtaining the European Union membership candidate status, Thea Tsulukiani, the Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Culture Minister, said on Wednesday.
The statement by the European People's Party on Georgia shows the agenda of the United National Movement opposition party and a part of the opposition “absolutely diverges” from the interests of the country, Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, said on Wednesday.
