The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has launched an investigation after five transgender women reported being attacked by a group of men in capital Tbilisi on Sunday.

Interpressnews reported the Ministry saying it had started the inquiry into the incident in the Chughureti district of the city, reported to have taken place in the early hours of Sunday.

The news agency cited one of the transgender women as saying they had been assaulted and had stones thrown at them by “dozens of men” in the attack.
