Interior Ministry hosting exhibitions for Independence Day

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has set up exhibition spaces and thematic stands in the historical capital of Mtskheta, outside Tbilisi, to mark the country’s Independence Day on Thursday.

Visitors have an opportunity to see the hardware used by the Border Police and the Emergency Management Department, with the equipment displayed on the central square of the city.

Border Police has also set up a simulated border and immigration checkpoint for citizens, where those interested in the topic can learn the process of passing through border control, the Ministry said.

Public Safety Management Center 112 offers adults to participate in computer games created especially for them, using modern technologies, from which they will learn how to behave in an emergency situation. Winners will be awarded with special prizes.

The body also said it was introducing visitors of the celebrations to reforms carried out over the years by the Ministry “in accordance to the European standards”.

As part of the celebrations, anthems of Georgia and the European Union are set to be performed at 5pm local time - marking the time when Noe Zhordania, the Chairman of the National Council, proclaimed Georgia’s independence on May 26, 1918.
