Georgia receives foreign countries’ congratulations, messages of support on Independence Day

Foreign officials on Thursday sent their congratulatory messages to Georgian counterparts and citizens to mark the country’s Independence Day, with foreign ministers of Poland, Greece, Latvia, Bulgaria and Iran being among those who offered their messages of support.

The Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau noted the long-standing cooperation between the two countries, based on “friendship, mutual respect and trust”.

I want to assure you that Poland consistently supports Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, as well as its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the top Polish diplomat said.

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said the partnership between Greece and Georgia was “fruitful and successful” in all areas, pointing out his country’s “strong” support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Very warm greetings from Latvia to Georgia celebrating Independence Day!”, the Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics tweeted.

The Bulgarian and Iranian foreign ministers also sent congratulatory letters to their Georgian counterpart. The former noted relations between Bulgaria and Georgia enjoyed a “long history” and had always developed in the spirit of “friendship and mutual respect.”
