Georgian Defence Forces to exhibit military hardware on Independence Day

Georgian Defence Forces will exhibit military hardware in all major cities of the country to mark Independence Day on Thursday, while troops will also take oaths to mark the occasion. 

Military oaths will be taken at five locations beside the capital city of Tbilisi, while Brigadier General Joni Tatunashvili, the Deputy Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces, said new weapons and military equipment would be exhibited in15 municipalities.

Diplomats and officials from partner states and the European Union will be hosted in the event in Tbilisi where, for the first time, the anthem of the EU will be performed.

Organisers of the activities have said events in Tbilisi's Rustaveli Avenue will be designed “for people of all ages and tastes”. Educational and entertainment areas, as well as zones for children, will be set up on the street to host visitors for the celebrations.
