State grants for expanding businesses will be granted to 29 internally displaced persons and ecomigrants engaged in entrepreneurship in Georgia, the Agency for Internally Displaced Persons, Ecomigrants and Livelihood announced on Monday.
Funded under a ₾7,500 ($2,608/€2,445) programme, the beneficiaries will be committed to employing at least one IDP under the terms, the Agency said, adding the grant would allow them to purchase equipment and machinery needed for business expansion.
The programme is co-financed by the Georgian Agency and the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation’s programme of economic and social participation of vulnerable displaced persons and the local population in the South Caucasus.
The winners of the programme were revealed by a commission based on pre-defined criteria, the Agency said.
