Georgia’s Under-16 national football team has won the UEFA U-16 International Development Tournament after defeating their counterparts from Azerbaijan 1-0 on Tuesday.
In the game held in Georgia’s south-eastern city of Rustavi, the Georgian team’s Avtandil Mashava scored the only goal in the 50th minute, earning the win for the squad.
The result saw the Georgian team place first in the three-team tournament - which also features Armenia - with five points.
Managed by former Georgian national team player Giorgi Khizanishvili, the team will play its next fixtures in Under-17 European Championship qualifiers against England, Israel and Lithuania in October.
Georgia will host the qualification round of the latter Championship.
