Georgia becomes Vice President of Universal Postal Union’s Fund

Georgia has elected Vice President of the Quality of Service Fund of the Universal Postal Union, a United Nations specialised agency that sets rules for mail exchanges worldwide, Georgian Post announced on Thursday. 

As a worldwide postal development financing platform, the Fund promotes the quality of postal services of designated operators in developing and less developed countries. Georgia was elected as Vice President of QSF on Wednesday by ballot.

Nugzar Bregvadze, the Head of the International Relations and Operations Department of the Georgian Post, was unanimously elected and appointed for a three-year term, the company announced.

Switzerland was granted the status of the chair country of the Fund. 

The QSF unifies 11 member states including Georgia, Switzerland, the United States, Tunisia, France, Egypt, India, China, Russia, Chile and Thailand. 

Established in 1874 and bringing together 192 member countries, the Union also makes recommendations to stimulate growth in mail, parcel and financial services volumes and improve the quality of service for customers.
