Georgian PM, ODIHR Director discuss cooperation

A range of cooperation topics between the Government of Georgia and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights was discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and the ODIHR Director Matteo Mecacci. 

The meeting focused on the issues of election observation, strengthening Georgia's democratic institutions, gender equality and the rule of law, the Government Administration said.

Garibashvili and Mecacci discussed the importance of the support of the ODIHR and Georgia's involvement in gender policy-related projects, as well as the prospects of further deepening effective cooperation in various areas.

The Prime Minister thanked the ODIHR for sending observation missions to the elections held in Georgia over the years.

The meeting also noted Georgia's active cooperation with the ODIHR in the implementation of the judiciary and judicial reform process.

Garibashvili and Mecacci also discussed the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, its impact on the Black Sea security, and Georgia's support for Ukraine, both in the humanitarian and political fields, including in international formats.
