Face masks no longer mandatory in Georgian schools, requirement kept for public transport, hospitals

Authorities on Covid regulations in Georgia have removed the requirement of wearing face masks in schools in the country starting this week, with the regulation only remaining in place for public transport and medical institutions.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced the easing of the requirements on Monday and noted the pandemic situation in the country was “very stable” and allowed the Government to “further simplify the regulations”.

Garibashvili pointed out the Government would keep monitoring the dynamics and “act accordingly” in further measures.

Georgian health authorities registered 51 new cases of coronavirus, 95 recoveries and one death in the past 24 hours.
