The current and future cooperation were discussed between the Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and Ben Dickinson, the  Head of the Global Relations and Development Division of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Centre for Tax Policy and Administration, on Thursday.

During the meeting, the sides spoke about the implementation of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting project and progress on the introduction of the first and second pillars of digital economy taxation, the Finance Ministry announced.

The state body also said Georgia was one of the first countries to join the BEPS inclusive platform, undertaking the obligation to implement the minimum standards set out by the project to tackle tax evasion, improve existing international tax rules and ensure a more transparent tax environment.

Georgia’s “active involvement” in the ongoing projects aiming to overcome the tax challenges due to the development of the digital economy was also noted by the Ministry, saying on October 8, 2021, the country had supported the official statement of the OECD on the two-part plan to reform international tax rules.
