Georgian Finance Minister holds meetings at 2022 World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund forum

Lasha Khutsishvili, the Finance Minister of  Georgia, has met representatives of international financial companies and corporations at the ongoing Spring Meetings forum of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund in Washington.

As part of the official agenda, Khutsishvili met Alicia Phillips Mandaville, the Vice President of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, on Friday, and thanked her for the “strong support” from the United States Government and the Corporation for reforming various sectors of the Georgian financial system, the Georgian Finance Ministry said.

The Minister also informed the Vice President about the recently signed agreement between Georgia and the World Bank, which provides for the allocation of $400 million in financial resources for a human capital programme in the country.

Khutsishviliu also met with Neils Annent, the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, to discuss the support provided by the German side to Georgia during the Covid-19 pandemic, the total volume of which in 2020-2021 amounted to approximately €203.8 million.

In addition to reviewing the financial support, the sides also mentioned the cooperation between the two countries in deepening Georgia's integration with the European Union.

The 2022 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, as well as related ancillary events, are taking place between April 18-24. The Spring Meetings are comprised of events of the joint World Bank-IMF Development Committee and the IMF's International Monetary and Financial Committee.
