The Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia has warned the public to refrain from opening email links from a sender reported this week to be collecting personal information by inserting spyware or malware into user devices.

Emails from the Datacomm were used to gain unauthorised access to personal data stored on electronic devices, the Service said, adding a number of individuals had applied to the state organisation with information over the emails received from the sender.

Their reports indicated the emails included their personal information including names and personal identification numbers, as well as links for recipients of the messages.

The state authority also said the messages with relevant data had been forwarded to the investigation services.
