Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani has discussed regional security challenges and Georgia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda on an official visit to Lithuania earlier today.
The officials talked about the current situation in Georgia's Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia (Tskhinvali) and highlighted the importance of high-level coordination with NATO and its allies.
President Nauseda reaffirmed Lithuania's support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, encouraging the Georgian side to 'strengthen good governance' on the way towards Euro-Atlantic integration.

The sides further discussed the possible outcomes of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) Summit, expressing hope that it will bring 'tangible results' to Georgia.
Within the framework of his visit, Zalkaliani also met with Lithuanian Speaker of the Seimas Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen and discussed the cooperation between Georgian and Lithuanian parliaments.

Zalkaliani will complete his visit to Lithuania on January 21.
Georgian foreign minister David Zalkaliani discussed the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration agenda, including the results of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) summit held in December last year, at his meeting with Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis on Wednesday.
The Eastern Partnership (EaP) summit held yesterday in Brussels has concluded with the adoption of a declaration which acknowledges the initiative of the associated trio uniting Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova ‘to enhance cooperation with the EU.'
Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani has announced that tomorrow a Georgian delegation headed by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili will leave for Brussels to participate in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) summit on December 15, calling it an ‘extremely important event’ to bring Georgia closer to the European Union (EU).
Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis says that the European integration of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine is ‘within the interests of the EU’. At a meeting of EU ministers of foreign affairs yesterday, Landsbergis asserted that for the Eastern Partnership to succeed, political and economic ties with Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine need to be strengthened.
Russia’s “illegal and provocative actions” along the administrative line separating Georgia’s occupied regions from the government-controlled territory, as well as Kremlin’s policy on sovereignty of Georgia and Ukraine were among topics discussed by Georgian foreign minister David Zalkaliani and Toivo Klaar, European Union’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus, on Tuesday.
Lithuanian Members of the European Parliament Andrius Kubilius and Rasa Juknevičienė on Saturday released a joint statement on the 14th anniversary of the 2008 war between Russia and Georgia and Russia’s continuing occupation of Georgian territories.
