Georgia's capital Tbilisi will host a local edition of Global Game Jam, an international event for game developers, with enthusiasts invited to create a fully fleshed-out product in just 48 hours.
Next week, Startup Büro, a Tbilisi-based platform supporting startups and hackathons, will bring those who apply for the two-day contest to the city's downtown, where they will be challenged to develop digital or physical games.
Enthusiasts of gaming, aged 18 or above, are invited to apply and contribute to the production of games in the Tbilisi edition, with a winning project set to earn 5000 GEL ($1600/€1400) in prize money.

The annual edition is part of Global Game Jam, hosted at over 900 locations in more than 100 countries and promoted as "the world's largest game creation event". Organisers stress the collaborative nature of their project, even going as far as stating it is "not a competition".
In the event, applicants are hosted for a keynote address by speakers - selected from the game development industry - before they are asked to create a game product based on the theme of that year's game jam. The 2022 edition will see participating developers use their creativity around the theme of 'duality'.
In the 2020 edition of the international occasion, 9,601 games were created at 118 local events, before an online-only edition last year featured reduced numbers due to the pandemic.
Global Game Jam Georgia is set to run at MOXY hotel, located on Saarbrucken Square in the capital, between January 28-30.
