Award-winning filmmaker and animation artist Dato Kiknavelidze has revealed sneak peek looks at his upcoming videogame The Way of Wrath, set to release this year.
Kiknavelidze, whose work Geno was named Best 3D Animated Short of the Palm Springs International Animation Festival in 2017, shared a brief video teaser for gameplay of his latest project to social media followers.
The developer has been sharing snippets from his work on the game for the past few weeks, also releasing screenshots and character art for The Way of Wrath.
The game is summarised as a “story-driven, turn-based, tactical RPG”, an acronym for a role-playing game, a popular genre for videogames.
Starving, cold, hunted for days. You have clawed your way out of jaws of death and found shelter in the ruins of an old fort. Nowhere to run now. Fight or Die,” the developer’s brief summary said about its plot.
More detailed information on the project can be found on its page on Steam, a major distribution platform for videogames across the world.
The page for The Way of Wrath on Steam presents four highlights of the RPG, related to the player’s role as a leader, their ability to adapt to a harsh environment, tactical aspect of warfare and a “dynamic, non-linear story”.
Kiknavelidze is working on the game — his first work in the medium — through Animmal, an independent developer studio. The Way of Wrath is set to release on Windows platform.
Beside Geno, his previous works include the 2010 short animation Vacuum, which screened at the Tbilisi International Film Festival.
Kiknavelidze holds degrees in art and animation and is co-founder of Lira Production studio.
