The cooperation of Georgian state agencies with the United States in implementation of its civil equality and integration policy was discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Tea Akhvlediani, Georgia’s State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality and Peter Wiebler, the Mission Director of the Georgian office of the US Agency for International Development.

The Office of the State Minister said the efforts in reconciliation and engagement with conflict-affected communities had also been reviewed in the meeting between the Georgian official and the USAID representative.

Other questions included discussion on the importance of the active involvement of international partners in the process of peaceful resolution of the conflicts on the Georgian territory, including in terms of promoting trust between the “artificially divided society” and protecting the fundamental rights of the conflict-affected population, the state body said.

Wiebler reaffirmed the ongoing US support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, and expressed his readiness for continuing the close cooperation with the Office of State Minister.
