Georgian domestic exports up 26.9% in 2021

Georgia has exported locally produced goods worth 4.2 billion USD in 2021, which is 26.9% higher year-on-year, the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) show.

Geostat says local exports in the country account for 73.7% of total exports, amounting to 3.1 billion USD, 29.9% higher compared to 2020.

Georgia’s top trading partners were:

  • China - 580.9 million USD
  • Russia - 555 million USD
  • Turkey - 304.5 million USD
  • Bulgaria - 252.2 million USD
  • The United States - 189.9 million USD

The five largest domestic export goods of Georgia are as follows:

  • Copper ores and concentrates - 815.4 million USD (+4.7%)
  • Ferro-alloys - 477.4 million USD (+93.5%)
  • Wine from fresh grapes - 237.7 million USD (+13.7%)
  • Natural or artificial mineral and carbonated waters - 141.8 million USD (+21.6%)
  • Nitrogenous fertilizers - 119.5 million USD (+65.4%)

Exports of gold totalled 64.2 million USD, which is a decline of 34.2% year-on-year, while the largest increase in 2021 was recorded in the export of Ferro-alloys and water, mineral and carbonated, containing added sugar amounting to 57.7 million USD which is 84.8% higher compared to 2020.

Export of Hazelnuts and other nuts totalled 116.2 million USD in 2021, which is 24.8% higher year-on-year.
