Coronavirus daily cases increase to 8,728 in Georgia

Georgia has reported 8,728 new Covid-19 cases, 8,545 recoveries, and 43 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past 14 days has increased to 10.44%.

Overall 57,728 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 63,605 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 33,350 of the 63,605 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 30,255 were PCR tests. 

1,015,592 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 943,212 of 1,015,592 patients have recovered, while 14,555 have died from the virus.

Overall, 1,388 cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the country as of January 19.

The 8,728 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 4,797 cases 
  • Adjara - 1,184 cases 
  • Imereti - 859 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 302 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 429 cases 
  • Guria - 186 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 289 cases 
  • Kakheti - 339 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 176 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 138 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 29 cases

A total of 4,386 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,000 of the 4,386 patients are in critical condition. 280 of the 1,000 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.

51,517 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,312,746 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,199,306 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 41.8% of the adult population.
