The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reiterated support of his Government for Georgia in a letter marking the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, sent to his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili, the Government’s Administration said on Monday.
In the letter, the UK PM notes the “importance” the United Kingdom attaches to the relationship, telling Garibashvili he is “delighted by how the relationship has broadened and flourished, symbolized by our annual format of the Wardrop Strategic Dialogue and a new UK-Georgia Bilateral Partnership and Cooperation Agreement”.

Over the last 30 years, the UK and Georgia have worked together to develop an “important partnership” that spans many areas, Johnson writes in the letter, adding he is looking forward to a continued development of partnership “in the years ahead”.
The British politician also expresses awareness that the “unprovoked, premeditated barbaric attack” on Ukraine by Russia further intensifies the “challenges” Georgia had been “bravely facing” since the 2008 war with Russia.
Johnson’s letter notes the UK and international community’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
