A total of six wine producer companies were refused certification following inspections carried out in 25 entities in the first quarter of 2022, the National Wine Agency of Georgia announced on Friday.

The Agency also revealed the decisions had followed 83 samples taken from products of the producers, with one wine company having its certificate revoked and refused the right to export by the international auditing companies Bureau Veritas and SGS, which inspected 14 companies in the reported period.

Additionally, 60 organoleptic tastings of the alcohol were conducted during the first quarter of this year on 2,585 samples received, out of which 2,445 were evaluated positively and the remaining 140 samples receiving negative assessment.

The inspection involves assessment of the conformity of export-designated alcoholic beverage or sample, submitted for certification, with a batch of bottled wine, the Agency said.
